Cafe Causette, Mandarin Oriental

It was our first visit to the cafe since its re-opening. We were happy to see that the menu has got all the old favourites, and a number of new additions.

My mint tea(HK$48) and the funky teapot.

My husband had nachos(HK$98) to start since its new on the menu. To his disappointment it was very average...like the freebie snack stuff you get in a Tex Mex bar.

My Hainan chicken rice(HK$168) came with the nachos. Pretty clueless, especially at the Mandarin? Anyway..my chicken rice was nothing like it used to be. The chicken was bordering on the dry side and the rice had no fragrance at all. To make it worse the soup was a lukewarm indistinguishable broth. Very uninspiring.

My husband's burger(HK$168) arrived after we asked them twice about it. While it looked impressive the beef was rather fat and gristly. He was not impressed at all.

We felt sad after our meal. The cafe was our favourite place: food was always very reliable and the service spot on. Now we are not too sure anymore.
