Aniseed 大茴香

A number dishes I tried at Aniseed Kerry Parkside.

Well-cooked beef pho (RMB36).  Beef was very tender and everything was piping hot and delicious.  It was nicer than the usual Aniseed Kerry Parkside quality.
Spring rolls with vermicelli (RMB36).  I liked the spring rolls, which were well seasoned and crispy.  I can't say the same about the vermicelli:  there was way too much of it and very little cucumber  and peanuts.  The dish became very bland and to make matter worse the nước mắm pha (mixed fish sauce) was also very bland.  Might as well just order spring rolls on its own next time.
Beef ball pho (RMB32).  Very disappointing as beef balls were small and they lacked flavours and texture.
Appetizer sampler for two (RMB48).  I liked the spring roll and the fresh rolls with vegetables and Vietnamese sausages.  The deep fried shrimp and crab meat spring roll on the right was way too greasy.  The batter was very crunchy but it was also very thick and it was socked in grease.  Inside there was a small piece of shrimp and crab meat patty.  I couldn't bring myself to have another bite.
